The Center’s counseling program provides families the opportunity to work with a therapist in either a short-term or open-ended time frame to address emotional and behavioral difficulties that may interfere with effective parenting and contribute to ongoing family discord and stress. Therapy goals are determined by the counselor and individual working together.
Counselors also work with parents and children on concrete issues such as housing, job readiness, budgeting issues, safety planning and referrals for other needed services.
Low-cost counseling is available individually for adults and children, as well as parent-child pairs, couples and families. Fees are on a sliding scale and based on a family’s ability to pay. Free child care is available during counseling sessions.
Hours: Counseling appointments are available on weekdays and evening hours are also available.
To inquire about counseling services, please call 415.441.KIDS (5437) and a volunteer can explain the process, or come and visit our Family Support Center.
